Kenny Dalglish says the criticism David Moyes has received following a disappointing transfer window is unjust.
The Manchester United manager has been blamed for what was an underwhelming transfer window for the Premier League champions.
Moyes only managed to bring in Marouane Fellaini from Everton despite attempts to sign Thiago Alcantara, Cesc Fabregas and Ander Herrera from La Liga.
Those failures have seemingly left United short of a creative
midfielder - something that may come back to haunt them in the their
attempts to bring back-to-back titles to Old Trafford.
But Liverpool legend Dalglish believes the criticism of Moyes has been premature and has urged fans to give him more time before making judgements.
"David Moyes is still feeling his way and had the strength not to do anything rash, analysing what he had at his disposal before making too many decisions," Dalglish told the Daily Mirror.
Dalglish, who managed arch rivals Liverpool in two spells, was not as forgiving to United's new chairman Ed Woodward, however.
Woodward replaced David Gill as head of Manchester United's transfer dealings and has been the target of criticism along with Moyes.
Dalglish believes his struggle pays testament to how influential Gill was at Old Trafford and says the club should have done more to stop him retiring.
"Until now, all the talk was about Sir Alex Ferguson leaving, but people are beginning to realise former chief executive David Gill is a big miss, too," he added.
"This is not a reflection on his successor, Ed Woodward, but I wonder if United might be wishing they had asked Gill to postpone stepping down until after this transfer window to make the transition a little easier."
