Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva rates Wayne Rooney among the best strikers in the world, and would relish the chance to play alongside the Manchester United star, reports the Daily Express.
The Brazil international was heavily linked with a move away from the reigning Ligue 1 champions this summer, but snubbed interest from Barcelona to remain at Parc des Princes.
Rooney was actually linked with a move to PSG during the transfer window, when speculation was rife that he wanted to leave Old Trafford.
However, new Manchester United boss David Moyes convinced the 27-year-old to stay, much to the disappointment of Silva, who would love to play alongside the England international.
"Wayne Rooney would have been great to play with," said the South American stopper. "He is one of the best strikers in the world."
The Manchester United front-man also boasts an impeccable goalscoring record in games played against Silva, scoring on every occasion the two players have met.
That could be one reason behind Silva's desire to team up with Rooney, in addition to his reputation as one of the most gifted footballers on the planet.
"This is also a guy who has scored against me every time I've played him," confirmed the former AC Milan centre-back. "That goal at the Maracana still irks me."
