Jose Mourinho will be watching Lazar Markovic when Serbia take on Croatia this Friday night, talkSPORT.com reports.
According to sources in Portugal, Mourinho is looking into the prospect of signing the Benfica striker in January and is personally scouting him out.
The Special one will attend the Group A qualification match in Belgrade, with a view to see first hand what his target can do.
The 19-year-old hitman, who joined Benfica from Partizan Belgrade for £8.8million earlier this summer, has been on Chelsea's to-buy list for a while, and although officially the Chelsea boss will be present on Friday to watch Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic, it is Markovic who he is there to asses.
Markovic, who has been capped for Serbia seven times already, scoring one goal, has made a fledgling start to his career in Portugal, netting twice in his first two appearances.
It is thought that Chelsea could Benfica's resolve in January by tabling an offer, but the Portuguese outfit are highly unlikely to want to relinquish his services without a fight
