Osaze Is Integral To The Super Eagles - Siasia

Siasia begs Keshi to recall Osaze

Former Super Eagles coach, Samson Siasia, has appealed to Stephen Keshi to save the career of Osaze Odemwingie, stressing that he still had a lot to contribute to the national team. Speaking in Abuja on Monday, the former Flying Eagles gaffer, however, advised the West Bromwich Albion star to amend his way by making discipline his watchword.

“We should not bring Osaze down, we just need to help him get back to his position in the national team because we know that if he is back to form, he will always be a winner. We have to make sure he calms down and obeys the rules and regulations guiding the game. He has to be disciplined before he can get back to where he wants to be in life,” he noted.

On the return of Russian-based striker, Obinna Nsofor, to the Super Eagles, he affirmed that Keshi took a wise decision. “As for the return of Nsofor to the Super Eagles, I will shout halleluiah. I think we deserve to celebrate the invitation Keshi extended to him. We are supposed to be happy because we all know that he is a good player. He is a versatile and reliable player. I’m happy that Keshi made up his mind to invite him. He will not regret the invitation,” Siasia said.

On the progress of the so-called Siasia boys in the team, the former Dream Team coach said: “Yes, I’m really very proud because I can actually boast that more than half of the players are currently playing for big clubs in Europe.

“It is a positive development and that is why we have to start grooming other up-coming ones. We must give them the chance to prove themselves instead of parading too many old players. In the long run, it is going to affect us when we think we are parading young players who have actually past their prime,” he warned.

On Victor Anichebe’s refusal to honour national team call up, he said: “If I were Victor, I would be more provoked because it is painful that nobody cared for him when he was injured. I want to, however, believe that Victor will still play for Nigeria, but we must apologise to him that the action was not deliberate. We still need him in the national team. Of course, he is going to come back if we do the right thing,” he assured.
