Gazidis - Is He Right For Arsenal?

Arsenal are still very much reeling from the sudden loss of David Dein in 2007 due to ‘irreconcilable differences’ with the rest of the board.
Dein was the suave, sophisticated, smooth-talking mastermind in recruiting some of Arsenal’s greatest players of modern times; such as Patrick Vieira, Emmanuel Petit, Marc Overmars, Thierry Henry, Davor Suker, Robert Pires, Sol Campbell, Gilberto, Gael Clichy, Kolo Toure, Cesc Fabregas and Robin Van Persie.
It is Arsenal’s failure to recruit someone of Dein’s calibre that has been hindering Arsene Wenger in the transfer market, as his replacement is South African born Ivan Gazidis.
While many players and managers involved do not always support the clubs they work for, it is extremely important to understand that while Gazidis has been in charge of negotiating transfer deals for Arsenal, it has ultimately cost Arsenal in employing some very fine world-class talent.
Would Dein let Gonzalo Higuain slip through his fingers as it did to Gazidis? It is well known Higuain favoured joining Arsenal and testing himself in the Premier League.
Arsenal value players a lot differently than the current market and seem to constantly be playing a game of ‘brinkmanship’, as if believing the player will always want to join Arsenal and force the move through.
But not all is a loss at the Emirates; Arsenal tend to do their business very late in the summer months, something that gives them value for money, but ultimately it means the new players have to spend the autumn and winter months getting used to the Premier League and the British conditions.
This usually costs Arsenal valuable points and leaving them chasing hard for a top four position by May. It is this type of last minute business that is costing Arsenal and hugely frustrating the Gunners faithful.
I would rather have David Dein back at Arsenal replacing the inept Ivan Gazidis.
