Moyes Desperately Wants A Central Midfielder

Manchester United manager David Moyes has made signing a central midfielder a priority this summer as seen with his alleged pursuit of Cesc Fabregas, Luka Modric and Marouane Fellaini.
The new United boss is right in trying to sign a world class deep-lying playmaker given the fact that his predecessor Sir Alex Ferguson's last senior centre-midfield signing was Anderson and Owen Hargreaves - who both joined the club in 2007.
Moyes has made Fabregas his main summer target, but I believe he is wasting his time in trying to sign the former Arsenal captain due to the Barcelona midfielder's desire to stay at his beloved local club.

It also seems unlikely that the former Everton manager will be able to tempt Modric away from La Liga - given the fact that Carlo Ancelotti has already said he is part of his plans.
That leaves Everton's powerhouse Fellaini - who would add strength, height and more importantly goals to Moyes' midfield.
United haven't had a midfielder who can really boss a game since Roy Keane departed the club in 2005.
Ferguson's midfielders since Keane's sudden exit from the club have all provided something different to the team - but none of them are able to really dictate a full game.
Michael Carrick - who is currently the best of the bunch - gives the Premier League champions balance and composure, while Tom Cleverley is usually chosen to get among the opposition.
Ryan Giggs will be used sparingly this season as he begins his coaching duties, Anderson has frankly failed to live up to his potential and Darren Fletcher is still recovering from a bowel condition.
That leaves the aforementioned Carrick as the only player in United's engine room who is anywhere near Keane's level.
United have been crying out for a Yaya Toure-esque player - who can take the game by the scruff of the neck, get in the faces of the opposition and help ease the pressure off the strikers by scoring goals.
Fellaini ticks all those boxes as he proved last season under the guidance of Moyes.
He was an absolute menace against Manchester United in the opening game of last season by bullying Carrick - who was the Red Devils' makeshift central defender that day.
The 25-year-old Belgian international bagged 12 goals in the league last season - albeit from an attacking midfield position.
Fellaini has since stated that he prefers playing in a deeper role - which would make him an ideal signing for United.
It seems surprising that Moyes failed to activate Fellaini's £22million release clause before the start of August - but with a large budget at Moyes' disposal - a move to Old Trafford is still not out of the question for Everton's key man.
