But instead of naming players from their own squad, the majority of Gooners opted for a slightly more tongue-in-cheek response - Napoli's new striker, Gonzalo Higuain.
The Argentine was close to sealing a big-money move to the Emirates this summer, but a string of events lead to him moving to Napoli instead.
Primarily, Real Madrid added £10 million to their asking price, which resulted in Arsene Wenger ending his pursuit of the Argentine hit-man, instead giving his full attention to the possible transfer of Luis Suarez - one that is still on the cards.
However, Higuain was reportedly a 'done deal' by many media outlets, and the fact the £34.4 million forward is now set to play for Napoli on Saturday against Arsenal, while the Gunners themselves have no new addition, has been the source of much frustration for the fans.
Arsenal fans were promised 'big signings' this window, and their patience is being pushed to the limit with Wenger recently admitting the north London outfit were not close to signing anyone.
Thus far, Yaya Sanogo is the only addition to squad, and he joined on a free transfer and is unproven in the Premier League.
That said, to say Arsenal haven't been busy at all would be untrue - there have been productive transfers with regards to those leaving the club.
Arsenal have managed to shift the likes of Andrei Arshavin, Denilson, Sebastian Squillaci and Vito Mannone among others.
This list is set to be extended even further, with Gervinho set for AS Roma and Nicklas Bendtner the subject of a swap deal with Malaga. Marouane Chamakh has also been linked with newly-promoted Crystal Palace.
While this is all positive, Arsenal need to use their new resources wisely to bring in some top quality players, or this light-hearted Twitter embarrassment will soon turn into a mob of angry Arsenal fans - and who can blame them?
