£50 million: Is Suarez Really Worth It For Arsenal?

Arsene Wenger has made it plain that he wants to sign a new striker in this transfer window.
The Frenchman seems determined to smash Arsenal's transfer record by signing Liverpool's Luis Suarez.
If they were to complete the sensational signing it is likely to cost well in excess of the £40m previously bid by the club.
However, with £70 million to spend and number of players needed in different positions, is spending a large chunk of the transfer budget on Suarez really worth it?
BBC Sport reported that £40 million is nowhere near Liverpool’s valuation of Suarez and this means Arsenal will probably have to increase their bid to around £50 million.
With Brazilian starlet Bernard reportedly on his way for £21m, that would be Arsene Wenger’s transfer budget gone.
Arsenal need at least another defensive midfielder. Aaron Ramsey has been playing well in the more defensive position with a great deal of energy, but other than that the Gunners do not have anyone else.
Jack Wilshire has a similar energy and ability as Ramsey but would be wasted in the defensive role.
Marouane Fellaini and Lars Bender have both been linked with a move to the Emirates but Arsene Wenger seems convinced that he needs to buy an attacker before he looks into the midfield.
With reports that there is a deadline for Fellaini’s buyout clause and Everton and Roberto Martinez confirming no bids have been made, it seems that Arsenal are going to miss out on Fellaini.
Although not as tall as Fellaini, Lars Bender has the skill to link into the Arsenal midfield and, at six foot tall, he would still add some height in the middle.
As for Arsenal’s defence, they started the 2012/13 season very well conceding only eight in their first ten matches but with concerns surrounding the form and fitness of Thomas Vermaelen, tt would be naive to believe that Arsenal do not need a new defender.
As for up-and-coming youngsters, the only player the academy can offer is Ignasi Miquel, who still doesn't look capable of challenging for a first team place.
Now that Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski have had time to settle into the Premier League it would be a better choice to buy Bernard as a winger and use Podolski, Giroud and Walcott as strikers.
If Wenger feels the need to buy a striker, a cheaper option such as Javier Hernandez would be better. He can then spend the remainder on a defensive midfielder and a younger central defender.
Perhaps the experience of David Villa would have been the best choice before he joined Atletico Madrid.
However, after a storming pre-season Olivier Giroud looks like a striker with something to prove and with Theo Walcott assisting and scoring for fun, Arsene Wenger may need to look to spend money in other areas of the squad.
