Fifa has decided to suspend its annual funding to Gabon Football
Federation (Fegafoot) until officials justify how previous grants were
spent, an official statement in Libreville said during the weekend.
An audit ordered by the world football governing body last month
revealed a deficit of 50 million francs cfa ($100,000, R983,000) in the
management of funds allocated to the football body of the central
African nation.
During the year 2012, according to the report from French audit firm
KPMG, Fegafoot did not open a special bank account for credit and flow
of funds and the records kept by the FA does not allow any
distinguishing between operations financed.
Also, the report indicates that permanent staff of the Fegafoot have
neither a contract of employment or payslips and tax contributions and
related social contributions were not paid.
Fifa has given the body up till end of July to provide a detailed report of how funds were utilised
