Nigeria's Club 3SC Slashes Gbolahan Salami's Salary For Waywardness

Shooting Stars have vowed to slash the salary of their impressive striker, Gbolahan Salami after his absence from the team's camp
After going AWOL and missing training sessions without official permission from the club, Shooting Stars of Ibadan have placed their in-form striker, Gbolahan Salami on half salary.

The Board and Management of the club in a press statement relayed by the Oluyole Warriors' media officer, Jubril Arowolo, said they took the action to enforce discipline in the beleaguered club.

Arowolo in a statement made available to Goal stated: "The board and management of Shooting Stars Sports Club, 3SC, Ibadan have taken this drastic step in enforcing discipline in the team by placing Gbolahan Salami on half salary.

"The 'enfant terrible' of the Nigerian league has failed to turn up for the club's training sessions in the last two days without official permission.

"As such, the club, after [Monday] training sessions and with no visible clue of the striker's whereabouts, we have decided to cut his monthly pay by half," Arowolo's statement read.

Salami, who had courted controversies in the past has scored over four goals for the Ibadan side in the league this season. He also netted in his last official game for 3SC - the 3-1 loss to Enyimba in a Federation Cup Round of 16 clash played last week in Abuja.
